Before Black Rhyno and Mavado there was: EEK A MOUSE!!!! SINGJAY Originator!!! Live in Bolonga, Italy March 2010

Posted by Zigz On March - 18 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

"EEK", she said "A Mouse!"

That “original style” included elements of “sing-jaying,” an early form of toasting (boastful catch phrases, singing and DJ work) mixed with funky vocal gymnastics and effects. Mouse’s contribution to the genre was a percussive, nasally vocal style, and a talent for using his voice as a musical instrument that moved The Boston Globe to call him “the Al Jarreau of reggae.” Much to his chagrin, Mouse has also often been called the originator of “sing-jaying.”

“I don’t know why they call me that,” said Mouse, chuckling. “Maybe … it’s a good vibe. Maybe a good vibe is what they feel, you know? Using my voice as an instrument … (it’s) just what I do, you know?

All Hail JIMMY CLIFF!!! >>>>>>VIDEOS

Posted by Zigz On March - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Last night I witnessed something that I’ve never seen felt before. I’ve seen Jimmy Cliff make the song cry time and time again, but at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction the Legend was close to tears as he invoked his Grandma and the family that made him the man, the creative genius, that he is.  His place in our culture is far greater than just music; ‘The Harder They Come’ propelled him to be an ambassador for our entire heritage. Don’t get it twisted, none of this is by chance or luck, it us the character that comes with Cliff that conquers all.  So much is this man filled with that other countries have adopted him and made him their own. He didnt forget to call on those who helped him along his journey, Desmond Dekker, Chris Blackwell and more.

Go on Jimmy, We are Proud of you! If Half your strength would be given to us we would be good!

UrbanMediaOutlet.com Exclusive: ERYKAH BADU at Jamaica Jazz and Blues Fest 2010

Badu at Jazz Fest was Hit or Miss… Either you were screaming for her or shouting for her to come off the stage. One of the most intense experiences for me!! Her music is so powerful and her performance was really the sultry, woman-around-the-microphone-with-her-drink, jazz experience that I love her for!!!

Mavado and Stacious Perform “Come into My Room”, Canada + song **DOWNLOAD**

Posted by Zigz On February - 8 - 2010 1 COMMENT

This song is no doubt BET and MTV2 ready!!!! ‘Vado and Stacious can take this one global mainstream if dem have the means and the teams to shub it out. And seeing that it has the mark of Big Ship records (yes, Freddie McGregor’s big ship is still sailing on the ocean with his children Shema, Chino & Steven as the prodigious fresh faces of dancehall/reggae 2.0) I think they can get some proper airplay in the states. All if dem remix it and throw a hot rapper or 2 on it… MAAAAAD!!!!

Amidst talk of Mavado being robbed a second time in Canada (while in studio recording dub plates in Scarborough, Ontario), he and Stacious put on this blazin performance
