Speaking this week at the Peace Electronic Network for Community Justice Programme, Prime Minister Bruce Golding mentioned that the yout’s have been negatively affected by the current state of dancehall music. What I see day to day, is that the yout’s are straying being of the fu*kery being given to them under the guises “art” and “art reflects life”!
Vybz Kartel maintains that his lyrics are about everyday things and real life, but his singles that offer a message away from sex and violence are not given the same push and promotion whether by Kartel and his team or by the radio hosts, selectors etc.
Mavado has been awfully quiet about the recent eruption of the “gully/gaza is genocide to Jamaica” outcry.
I don’t think it should reach the point where the government has to get involved
